The Mud Kitchen Molly brings a striking new stove top design to the Hide & Seek Kids outdoor play kitchen range. An etched black perspex panel sits at the heart of the bench, with hotplate rings etched into the surface for realistic cooking play, paired with turning knobs kids can twist as they "cook." About the Mud Kitchen Molly

The Mud Kitchen Molly is designed for children who love realistic, hands-on cooking play. Its standout feature is the etched black perspex stove top — a black perspex panel with hotplate rings etched into the surface, paired with turning knobs for that satisfying "click" of adjusting the heat before serving up the next mud pie creation. The perspex surface is scratch-resistant, though not scratch-proof, so it's worth keeping play props to soft-edged, kitchen-safe items.

Alongside the stove top, the Molly includes a plumbable sink with tap for sensory water play, a chalkboard splashback for writing up today's menu, open shelving for displaying play food and utensils, hanging hooks for aprons and tools, and a lower storage cabinet to keep the whole outdoor kitchen tidy between play sessions. Like the rest of our mud kitchen range, the Molly is supplied unpainted, so it's ready for your family to choose a paint colour that suits your outdoor space.

Mud kitchens support open-ended, screen-free play — mixing, pouring and stirring build fine motor skills, while running a "cafe" or "restaurant" encourages imaginative role-play, language development and social skills as kids cook and serve alongside friends and siblings.

Painting Your Mud Kitchen Molly

The Molly arrives in raw, unpainted timber. Painting before assembly with quality exterior primer and paint is strongly recommended for long-term protection, especially given mud kitchens see frequent water exposure. Full step-by-step guidance — including our Dulux trade partnership for paint and supplies — is available in our Painting, Install & Maintenance Guide.

Safety Information
  • The stove top is a play feature only. The etched hotplate design does not heat and is not hot — it's for visual, imaginative realism only.
  • The black perspex stove top surface is scratch-resistant but not scratch-proof. Avoid dragging sharp or metal objects across the surface.
  • Do not overtighten screws during assembly — this is the leading cause of timber cracking. Screws should be firm but snug, not forced.
  • Regularly check for loose fasteners, splinters, or protruding hardware and address promptly.
Adult Supervision

Adult supervision is essential whenever children are playing at the mud kitchen, particularly for younger children who may not be fully aware of potential hazards. Establish clear rules for play and keep the surrounding area clear of hazards.

Natural Timber Characteristics

As a natural material, timber will respond to changes in temperature and humidity over time. Minor gaps or surface cracks may appear and close again with the seasons — this is normal and does not affect structural integrity. Knots, grain variation and slight colour differences between pieces are natural characteristics, not defects.

Ongoing Maintenance

Clean regularly with mild detergent and water, paying attention to joints and the sink area where moisture can collect. Check fasteners every few months and touch up paint as needed. Full maintenance guidance is available in our Painting, Install & Maintenance Guide.
